PCA announces 52nd Juried Art Show, Festival – News – Lexington Minuteman – Google Alerts

PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Center for the Arts, 11 North St., announced the 52nd Juried Art Show and Festival “Where Art and History Meet.”

The kickoff event is the opening gala and reception to honor the artists and announce the award winners at 7 p.m. Sept. 21. Music will be provided by Doug Mclaughlin and Friends; Martini’s of Plymouth will serve appetizers and small bites; the reception committee will provide desserts and a cash bar will be available. Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased online at http://ArtsPlymouth.org. All art work will be for sale.

“Walt Whitman’s Time for a Party” is a one man show performed by the Geronimo Sands, former artistic director of Priscilla Beach Theatre, and will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 in honor of Walt’s 200th birthday. Geronimo will read and dramatize poetry from “Leaves of Grass.” A birthday cake and assorted goodies will be available to add to the evening. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online.

Art In Bloom will return for 2019 and opens with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4. This is an exhibition where artists and gardeners come together to create flower arrangements based on selected pieces of art. The flowers will be on view from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 4-6. Admission is free.

Painting “en plein air,” or painting outside, is the goal of the Art Stroll from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 6. Join an afternoon of walking up and down North Street to witness the artists working on their own canvases. There is no fee for this adventure. Rain date is scheduled for noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 6.

Young @ Art is a juried art show reserved for artists 6-18 years of age. Young artists can submit their work by dropping off their pieces at the Center for the Arts from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 10. Cost is $5 per submission and two pieces are allowed per person. Opening…
