This summer, Friday nights at Ocean View Beach Park have some added flair.
In partnership with the city of Norfolk and local businesses, Norfolk Festevents has overhauled the former Thank Goodness it’s Ocean View Summer Concert Series with a themed party schedule for fun-seekers of all ages.
“We really wanted to freshen up the branding of the programming and have a diverse appeal,” said Jordan Lett, marketing director for Festevents. “While these events are targeted for the Ocean View community, we also want other people to come in and see what it’s all about.”

The 7 to 9 p.m. shows, which run through Sept. 1, feature sunset dancing to live music.
Friday’s themed parties in the 6.5-acre park go from 6 to 9:30 p.m. and have already included the headlining Shore Thing Independence Day Celebration along with Taste of VA on the Bay, an updated version of Brews on the Bay with an expanded menu of craft beer, wine and spirits. Aug. 2: Backyard BBQ. Barbecue, adult beverages, children’s activities and live country/rock music featuring the River Boyz.
Aug. 9: Salsa Dance Party. Latino-inspired food, beer, children’s activities and live music featuring Tumbao Salsero Orchestra.
