MUHLENBERG COUNTY, Ky. (8/20/19) — An opportunity for grown up artists to display their work is being offered by Muhlenberg County Public Libraries Thistle Cottage, which hosts an annual spring art show for students.
“We really want to get the community more involved,” said Thistle Cottage Archivist Amie Waltrip. “And since we have so many talented people in this county, we thought this was a good way to highlight them and their work.”art show
Artwork submitted by Muhlenberg countians will be exhibited during the Community Art Show Sept. 3 through 28 at Thistle Cottage on Cherry Street, Greenville.
Submissions may include drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography and needlework and must be suitable for a diverse audience of all ages. Each artist may submit up to three pieces of work and artwork should be labeled with the artist’s name, address, phone number and title of the work. For those submitting more than one piece of artwork, labels should be affixed to the pieces in order of priority in case of limited gallery space.
Artists may submit their work now through 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23 at the Thistle Cottage. Artwork from anyone that lives, works or owns property in Muhlenberg County will be accepted. Library staff reserve the right to exclude artwork that doesn’t meet the guidelines.
Waltrip said when the art show officially opens Sept. 3, it will available to the public through the end of September from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday; and, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 during Greenville’s Squash and Gobble festival downtown.
