NEWBURYPORT — This Saturday’s Local Pulse has a guest lineup that includes Deb Green, of Greater Newburyport Ovarian Cancer Awareness, to talk about the upcoming Newburyport Lantern Festival.
For National Ovarian Cancer Month, the group is putting on its seventh annual festival at Bartlet Mall on Sunday, Sept. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. The rain date is Monday, Sept. 2. All are welcome to come down and decorate, light and float lanterns on Frog Pond at dusk. For more details, check www.ocawareness.org/lantern-festival/.
Also in the lineup, Jessica Pappathan, executive director of the Newburyport Art Association, will be joined by Claudia Harris to discuss the upcoming “The Day Art Met Fashion” show at the art association on Sept. 5.
The event will showcase paintings, photography and sculpture by art association members, as well as pieces of clothing designed by Thierry Charlebois, which were inspired by the artists’ paintings.
And then City Clerk Richard Jones will join host Joe DiBiase to talk about about the upcoming city election, as well as the process of selecting a new city councilor to serve the remainder of Gregory Earls’ term this fall.
Earls, a longtime councilor, is stepping down Aug. 31 because he is moving to North Hampton, New Hampshire. Residents interested in serving can apply, and a new councilor will be chosen to serve through Dec. 31 — the end of Earls’ term.
Local Pulse airs live from 9 to 10 a.m. every Saturday from the newsroom of The Daily News on Liberty Street.
