BRINGING UP BABY – Margaret Quinlan, co-author of “You’re Doing it Wrong: Mothering, Media and Medical Expertise,” will discuss the history of advice to mothers and sign copies of her book at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Talking Leaves Books, 951 Elmwood Ave. Quinlan is an associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

PARTY TIME – The Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University will host its first summer happy hour, “Come Together: pARTy at the CAM,” from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. It will feature live art demonstrations, VIP tours, Beatles favorites from the BBC Band and restaurant vendors.

AL FRESCO – Independent Living of the Genesee Region will celebrate the 29th anniversary of the signing of the American Disabilities Act with an ADA Picnic from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in Kiwanis Park, 3808 W. Main Street Road, Batavia. The picnic is free and open to the public.
The University Heights Art Association, which works with artists with disabilities, will bring projects and materials for picnickers to create their own ADA anniversary tributes.
