The opening celebration of the new show will take place on Sunday, July 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. This free event will feature live music and light refreshments.
The show includes painting, pastel, sculpture, glass, jewelry, photography, ceramics and more.
The work of Carol Bliven, Benjamin Caras, Catherine Carter, Clancy Glass, Phyllis Dobbyn Adams, Bill Fiolek, Lynn Hahn Heide Hallemeier , Chuck Hauck, Heather Hobler, Paula Kochanek, Michelle Lapointe, Rivka Lipschitz, John Middleton, Elizabeth James-Perry, Karen Snyder, Suzanne Starr, Stephanie Stroud, Michael Walden, Denise Zompa and Karen C. Zuka will be on display.
“Living in close proximity to the sea changes the rhythm of our lives and our sense of the seasons,” a press release from Art Scapes Gallery and Maker Space states. “Each of the 21 artists in the show consider these influences through their work. Chuck Hauck does this through his whimsical papier mache sculptures. John Middleton combs beaches for the remains of boats which, he uses to create wall sculptures that are rich in color and texture. David and Jennifer Clancy explore the many perils of being a fish through their blown glass pieces. The painters in the show use color, texture and form to express the many moods of the ocean.”
Art Scapes is located at 665 Orchard St. in New Bedford in a historic textile mill in the South End of city. Ample parking is available.
